Collier's Story

Collier was born on June 14, 1983, and was the youngest son of Sandra and Greg Barcus. Collier was little brother to Micah and Ty, and big brother to Jessa. As a teenager, Collier spent over a year as a resident of Mt. Carmel Ranch, and matured into a fine young man. He truly loved the wide-open spaces of Wyoming, and dreamed of returning someday.

Motivated by the events of 9/11, Collier joined the U.S. Army and was subsequently stationed as part of the peacekeeping force in Iraq. On July 08, 2004, he was tragically killed by enemy action. Collier’s death greatly affected his family, friends, and those from Mt. Carmel Youth Ranch who all loved him so much. As a young hero, Collier touched the lives of many.

To honor Collier’s commitment to “make a difference” after 9/11, a serene military Gold Star retreat has been built so families can experience respite and solace from the trauma and stress they have endured.
